Lunar New Year Project

Benjamin (4th Grader at Beach Elementary)
This year, my parents and I started a new tradition for the Lunar New Year. First, we will pick a topic about Chinese culture, like history, clothing, animals, or food. Then, we will research the topic and work together to create a poster board. If there is an opportunity, we will share the poster with the local community by sharing it with fellow students.
We chose Marquis Yi’s bronze bells as the topic for this year. It was inspired by an exhibit at the Asian Art Museum in SF. Two other 4th graders from my class also joined us in our efforts. They created a board about the lion dance. At my school, we presented our finished poster boards during my school’s New Year celebration. We did the same at the school library, explaining them to our classmates.
