New Year's Brunch

by Ayla Blandford (9th grade)

A tradition I have with my family is our New Year's day brunch at my grandmas. Every year, my grandma, parents, brother, cousin, aunt, and uncle all come together to share a delicious meal full of traditional Korean food. We catch up, share stories, and share thanks. This is such an important time for me because I love to spend time with my extended family, and this way we can all be together and share a great meal. Some traditional foods we eat are deok bokki, a rice cake soup, bulgogi, tteokbokki, kimchi, and more. Every year I look forward to this special time, and it is such a great way to start the year.
